UPDATE 0.95 IS NOW LIVE

TOXIKK PATCH #013, GINGER BUILD GENERATION



GENERAL

TOXIKK's "BIGGEST PATCH EVAH!!!1" brings your v0.94 build up to v0.95 Ginger.

It not only comes with tons of new content (maps, characters, music, vehicle etc.), features and fixes, but also a completely redone look for the main menu and profile section, now showing your in-game character with all its customization glory (instead of a lame pre-rendered pic). Plus: everything should feel smoother as we ironed out a lot of friction and hick-ups. Let's have a look at what we did in detail...:





NEW FEATURES


FTR_01 - NEW MAP: CITADEL



Placed in a futuristic downtown Chicago, with all its opulence and bling skyline, CITADEL really is THE archetype of our so called MASSIVE MAPS: It sports Phantoms (hover planes), Demons (battle mechs) and Streamers (hover bikes) as vehicles and true vertical gameplay on a very large scale. CITADEL was built for our Cell Capture (CTF) game mode and a match can easily turn into total mayhem (which means you're playing it as intended). More details about this map can be found in our PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT OF CITADEL.





FTR_02 - NEW MAP: CUBE





In many ways, CUBE is the antithesis to CITADEL. With its total light-weight and reduced HOLP (Hardcore Oldschool Low Poly) design, this map was built to be a blast for up to 8 players. You can't get closer to the roots of AFPS gaming in a 2016 shooter than with this map (hat tip to Zedek the Plague Doctor).





FTR_03 - NEW VEHICLE: DEMON (BATTLE MECH)





With its debut in CITADEL, the DEMON finalizes TOXIKK'S ROUNDUP OF VEHICLES. It's not really a tank class... but it's not a light-weight vehicle neither. It sits somewhere in between. With its great maneuverability and massive armor, you want to make sure this beast is not between you and your next waypoint.





FTR_04 - NEW CHARACTER SET





As the foundation of our enhanced character customization system, we raise the amount of unique character sets to eight different archetypes, with the release of six fresh armors. This patch allows you to pick a complete (pre-defined) set, while future patches will allow for more combinations of helmets and armors. As before, you can define all colors, camouflage patterns, glow, armor tag etc. But this is only the beginning. More customizations coming soon.





FTR_05 - NEW MAIN MENU FRONTPAGE

Yea..., it felt kinda odd to not show off your character the moment you enter the game. Also, the iffy pre-rendered images didn't really do much for the hot bling next-gen look... But that's a thing of the past, as we now adopted the real-time-show-your-awesome-char-customizations-style for the main menu's frontpage. Let us know if you enjoy this fresh look as much as the guy who insisted on this change... ^^





FTR_06 - NEW MUSIC

Once again we updated the library of in-game audio tracks. The patch comes with many new intro, action and ambient tracks for your listening pleasure.





FTR_07 - NEW SPEEDSHOT BOOSTER

A feature that was already there, but not used anywhere so far: The Speedshot Injector pick-up. It pretty much does what it sounds like: Increase your ROF (rate of fire) for a limited amount of time. You have to try this in combination with the Max Damage Injector pick-up on our new map CUBE. It's good for a blast (literally).





FTR_08 - VOTE FOR RE-MATCH

An option to vote for "REPLAY MATCH" was added to the post-match voting screen. It allows you to easily play the same match with the exact same settings again.





FTR_09 - SHOW ENEMY'S NAME IN HUD

When pointing at an enemy, it'll now always show the name of said opponent directly under the crosshair.





FTR_10 - CUSTOM CONTENT ON DEDICATED SERVERS

TOXIKK supports Workshop items on dedicated servers. To install Workshop items on your dedicated server, create a .bat file next to your SteamCMD.exe with the following line:

steamcmd.exe +login +workshop_download_item 324810 ItemID

For updating items on your server, simply relaunch the .bat file. Or your combine it with your general server update batch like this:

steamcmd.exe +login +app_update 324810 validate +workshop_download_item 324810 ItemID1 +workshop_download_item 324810 ItemID2 +quit

Dedicated servers should then be launched with the TOXIKK\BinariesToxikkLauncher.exe instead of the TOXIKK\Binaries\Win32\Toxikk.exe to complete the installation of Workshop items.





FTR_11 - SWITCH TEAM

This new feature allows you to switch teams by clicking RMB (right-mouse-button) in the pre-match lobby.





FTR_12 - AUTO POST PROCESS CHAIN (PPC) FOR SDKK

Automatic PPC appliance added: If you do not assign a World-PPC to a custom built map, SDKK will now use automatically TOXIKK's default PPC to provide correct HDR to LDR mapping and scene colorization.





FTR_13 - CUSTOM GAME SETUPS FOR DEDICATED SERVERS

A server admin can now create custom match setups and have them displayed in the voting screen under a unique name. Thanks to Chatouille for this one!





FTR_14 - CREDITS

You want to know who's responsible for this mess? We added a first version of credits to game. Simply click the [CREDITS] button in the main menu (who would have thought...) to start stalking individual team members.





FIXES


FIX_01 - OCCASIONAL STUTTERS

In-game hick-ups caused by storing in-match chat messages in the log history caused slight stutters sometimes. This shouldn't happen any more as saving messages is now delayed until it can be done in one easy and non-interrupting go (e.g. death, match over, spectating, mapchange)



FIX_02 - SHOW CORRECT KEY-BIND

On-screen messages like "PRESS [E] TO USE" or "TO ENTER VEHICLE" etc. now display the correct key binding (e.g. [E] instead of [ENTER] for "USE").



FIX_03 - SHOW UNINSTALLED MAPS

The server browser now also displays the names of custom maps that are not installed clientside



FIX_04 - PASSENGER DISPLAY IN RHINO

If you have a passenger while driving a Rhino, his name will now be shown around his seats location (driver or gunner)



FIX_05 - IMPROVED SPLASH DAMAGE CALCULATION

The damage calculation for splash damage (as caused by e.g. grenades or missiles) was improved and should be a lot more accurate now.



FIX_06 - MAP FIXES: CASTELLO

Castello was revised and had a lot of collision issues removed (hat tip to Chatouille)



FIX_07 - WORKSHOP UPLOADER ISSUES

There were some issues with the Steam Workshop content uploader when file paths contained blanks " ". Our Content Uploader is now v1.1.



FIX_08 - DOWNLOAD AND LAUNCH OF CUSTOM MAPS

Sometimes there were timing issues when a custom map was still downloading, but the client though it was already available and tried to launch it. This should now be fixed.



FIX_09 - TOXIKK LAUNCHER CRASH

TOXIKK Launcher crashed if Workshop items were subscribed, but the game was moved to another steam library directory. This was fixed.



FIX_10 - IN-MATCH CHAT

The in-match chat sometimes didn't launch or wasn't activated after matches. Also, wrong key-bindings were shown for Talk, Team Talk and Global Talk. This was fixed.



FIX_11 - TURRET VISUAL FX

Muzzle flash and other effects for "instant hit" turrets didn't play properly on client. This was fixed.



FIX_12 - MEMORY USAGE REDUCED

RAM and VIDEO MEM usage was reduced drastically. If you had problems with this in the past, it should hopefully be fixed with .95.



FIX_13 - MISC VEHICLE FIXES

The vehicles received a many small fixes, mainly to the camera perspective, cam shakes (now intensity dependent e.g. on impacts), visual fixes for active power-ups etc.





FINAL THOUGHTS


This patch was a massive piece of work and we're just happy to finally have it out there. The announced map "EHRGEIZ" was removed from .95 last minute, as it still had issues that we want to look into before releasing it. It'll come with the next patch.
